In addition to the photos I better tell you something of the trip itself.
Well it started off nearly disastrously. Our 10:35pm Tiger Airways flight (note company name) was delayed till 1am at which time they promptly cancelled the flight and herded us back through customs as if we’d actually left the country. Of course we hadn’t and any such thoughts were just dreams we’d had whilst falling asleep waiting for our flight.
Standing in The Terminal – not too dissimilar from the Tom Hanks film by the same name except for the 200 other marooned passengers around us – we waited for a sign of life or hope from the dutiful airline carrier. Beat. Nothing.
Knowing we had to be in Siem Reap, Cambodia to start shooting that morning, I headed for the Singapore Airlines desk and bought two (much more expensive) tickets to Singapore. This flight left in a couple of hours (at 3am). We were out of there. Phew!
At Changi Airport (Singapore) I was faced with a similarly huge cost for flying the remaining hour or so to Cambodia. But I was already committed, so out came the credit card again. Whack – ouch!
When we touched down in Cambodia and ran across the tarmac to the thatch-covered arrival terminal we were only 4.5 hours behind schedule, but unfortunately it had cost me an extra $2600.
I’ve never got through customs so quick. Suddenly we were zooming through the streets of Siem Reap on a tuk tuk. The camera was out and filming had begun…
